Netflix’s “Bridgerton” is back for a fourth season, bringing you the wild ride that is the love life of Benedict (played by Luke Thompson). We’re joined by some old favorites, like Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) and her huge collection of wigs (20 this season, if that), and we’re introduced to some new characters, like Sophie (Yerin Ha), Benedict’s central love interest. Get ready for steamy love scenes, high society drama, and swoon-worthy looks.

We chatted with the show’s head of hair and makeup, Nic Collins, to find out which Easter eggs to look out for. Read on to learn more.

Sugar: How does the hair and makeup of the fourth season compare to the last?

Nic Collins: This season, we have to stop [and] create a whole new ‘ground floor’ world. I chose the hair and makeup to reflect their environment, keeping their look very simple with natural makeup to create a contrast between the high world and the low world.

PS: How many wigs does Queen Charlotte have in season four and which is your favourite?

NC: 20 wigs in total for the season. The Celebration wig was the last wig made and my favorite. The inspiration for this one was taken from the opening scene of Sophie looking up at the carnival, so it was nice to tie it in with the last episode of the season in the form of a Queen Charlotte wig.

PS: Obviously there are strong parallels between Sophie Baek’s story and Cinderella. How did that affect her hair and makeup?

NC: There is definitely some resemblance to Cinderella in her hair and her makeup. We start off seeing Sophie as a maid, so I kept her to the back hair and makeup for this. When it came to going to the ball, I chose a braided princess bun with a four-tier braid. I guess you could compare this to a Disney princess bun.

PS: Are there subtle meanings to look for in hair or makeup this season?

NC: Yes, Queen Charlotte’s famous wigs include hidden ‘Easter eggs’. The highlight for me is the candy ball wig. The love heart-shaped hair cage is based on Charlotte’s love for King George, and alludes to her love of astrology with star-like decorations. Inside the cage is a replica of the crown he gave her, a symbol of their love.

PS: Can you share some of your favorite products that you used on set?

NC: We used a lot of brands and products throughout the filming season, but I would say our most used products are: Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder ($50), Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Color ($26), Weleda Skin Food ($20), Dr Paw Paw Sip Lip Balm ($12), Armani Glow, Armani $9, Armani $12), Armani 6 natural Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge ($36), Victoria Beckham Satin Kajal Liner ($35), Glossier Boy Brow Gel ($22), Benefit Dandelion Blush ($18), and Patchology Gel Eye Patches ($17).
