Favorites for lips, cheeks, eyes and face, and newbies I think you’ll love

The Sephora Spring 2024 sale ends on Monday 15th April, so you still have time to take advantage of your discount, right? Whether your wallet still feels kind to you is another matter, so once you’ve completed your move, maybe don’t do it read more. That said, some of these may have already found your shopping cart, in which case I’d love to hear what you think…

Some of these are things I just love; a couple are on my Want List – trying hard not to overstock! I’ve had to throw away a bunch of stuff because I bought so much I couldn’t use before the expiration date that my VIB Rouge discount (which I no longer have) saved me anything in the long run. I don’t know how useful it is to read about things I don’t do it but mine, but for me writing about them here is like talking to friends who might buy or in the future. I share why I crave them and can even appreciate them without having them, and share any related insight. *Save*

SEPHORA SPRING SALE 2024: CUPS

Clarins Lip Comfort Oil (7mL/ $38 CAD or $30 USD) it’s my favorite “lip balm” formula because it doesn’t feel on the lips at all. Instead it feels like a glossy, luxurious feel that gives a comforting sensation (Lip Comfort Oil is such a great name). It has a nice glossy finish, about what you would expect if you weren’t eating or drinking anything, and I don’t find it too sticky. I just realized that I never posted my IG video about Clarins Lip Comfort Oil here!

My favorite shade is a limited edition called Lovely Rose that Clarins released last November 3 as a Look Good Feel Better promotion. It has a much brighter color than other similar shades in the range. If you like a bit more tint, try Cherry.

Friday Summer Dream Cup Oil (4.5mL/ $35 CAD or $26 USD) my recommendation for someone who wants a lip balm that doesn’t feel greasy, but also doesn’t feel sticky at all. Like most of these types of lip color formulas, the shades are very light. But three of the four are also shades of you I won’t find in the Clarins range (see second slide, above). Blush Dreams, Soft Mauve and Rosewood Nights are neutral and soft creams. Pink Cloud is beautiful too, a soft but light pink with a shimmer. The glossy finish doesn’t last long, but it does leave a subtle stain (it will show up more on lips like mine, which have no natural color).

Innbeauty Project Glaze Lip Oil (6mL/ $23 CAD or $18 USD) it offers one mL less than the Clarins size, but is a little lighter on the bag. It’s also on my Wish List despite having a bunch of lip oils that I already enjoy. I need to go into a real store to check the consistency – I prefer lip oils that feel like plush lip gloss (like my favorite, Clarins Lip Comfort Oil), not like oil, and apparently the texture of this product is perfect for me. If it’s like Clarins, I’ll have to wait until the Berry Jam shade is available. again it’s time to give back what I have… please wish me luck and courage!

SEPHORA SPRING SALE 2024: LIPS AND FOREST

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip and Cheek Secrets ($68 CAD and $50 USD) a one time purchase (unless you really need eyeshadow) for face and lip color in my opinion. Pillow Talk is a popular shade and looks great in many colors. That said, the lipstick shade itself tends to look a bit off brown on my bright neutral skitton, but I can dress it up with a pink lip pencil or lip gloss that comes in this set. And I would use everything in more than one way: I would use the Beauty Light Wands on the eyelids and on the cheeks, and the same with the Pillow Talk Lipstick. Even the lip gloss can be used as a blush on its own or combined with the Beauty Light Wand. It’s a versatile little set, and it’s also great for travel.

Makeup Milk Cooling Water Jelly Tint Lip + Cheek Blush Stain (5g/ $33 CAD or $24 USD) it may or may not be my wallet’s kryptonite. I go weak in the knees with a cheek stain that I can also put on my lips (or vice versa; this doesn’t embarrass me. I have Chill (red), Spritz (coral orange) and Burst (poppy pink) as samples from a PR agency (thanks!) and I have Splash (berry plum) on my Fall sale Want list Fall violet! high flush delivers stain, but this type of formula is also a good base under a cream or powder if you want more impact and lasting power.

SEPHORA SPRING SALE 2024: FACE

SimiHaze Sun Blusher Face Brightening Tint Liquid Blush (2.5mL/ $48 CAD or $35 USD) new to me, to US Palestinian twins Simi and Haze. Love the look of this natural, burnished finish on the leather (see second slide, above). Designed for use on cheeks, eyelids (and lips, according to simihazebeauty.com*) — just dab and blend — this face tint (along with their Solar Tint Cream Blush Duo and Velvet Blur Matte Lipstick Balm) is on my Want List right now; it’s expensive for such a small amount, so I have some thinking to do.

Live Tinted Hueglow Liquid Highlighter Drops (50mL/ $54 CAD) they are ideal for skin prone to dryness and dehydration. I’m somewhat obsessed; here’s another long time clip that I wanted to share here before, but didn’t… ♀️

The Hueglow bottle is a generous size in the world of highlighter liquid, though – it’s 50mL and you need very little; the shades are very sheer, too, so if your complexion is like mine, Dusk will still work for you. HOT TIP: if you find that your matte foundations are too drying on your skin, apply a little Golden Hour (soft gold) or Dusk (bronze) all over your face first, then your foundation and you’ve got a new radiant glowy finish. (In the video above, I applied Hueglow in Dusk to the contours of my face and Hueglow in Dawn (rose gold) to my cheeks before my matte foundation.)

SEPHORA SPRING SALE 2024: EYE SHADOW

Mario Master Makeup Mattes Eyeshadow Palette: The Neutrals ($68 CAD and $50 USD) you give me hands to hold – something to hold. I bought the Ethereal Palette almost as soon as it was launched and I adore it; perfect for someone who likes natural makeup with little extras (shimmery shades and dreamy toppers) and strong drama potential. I don’t have this palette of matte neutrals yet, but it’s high on my Want List.

Why do I have a hold of Mario Master Makeup Mattes Neutral palette? Because it’s really NOT NULL. Not “neutral” like the browns and creams and shades that go with everything, but “neutral” as in not warm again not it’s cool. Most neutral eyeshadows these days are too warm, too orange for my neutral complexion. (Example: Mario’s previous matte palette which I wasn’t interested in at all.) And I don’t have any matte shadows in my kit – most are dusty and dry and absorb light from the skin. But Mario’s Makeup mattes are lovely, soft and almost creamy – suede, if you will – and don’t turn my lids into the Sahara. If you were looking at a matte eyeshadow palette, I would recommend this in a heartbeat without having to try it myself. Get it now. Seriously, if I could have matte eyeshadow dreams, this palette would be a real one. #grabbygrabbyhands

Huda Beauty Creamy Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette in Neutral Brown ($44 CAD or $32 USD) it’s different enough from Mario’s Makeup Neutral palette that I want them both. This is a cream to powder formula, and a little peachy, or apricot – a little warmer – and a little more expensive if your wallet is trying to make you choose.

I admit I’m a little worried about peach given my warm-not-cool complexion and palette preferences, but peach/apricot is low on the warm shade temperature dial, so there’s that. Obviously the formula can crack, but a thin eye lid should take care of that.
