Naturie Hatomugi Line Review (Skin Conditioner, Skin Conditioning Gel, and Skin Conditioning Milk)

When I first got into Asian Beauty last year, Hatomugi’s Naturie line kept popping up as a staple product in many people’s routines, with the Skin Conditioner being the holy grail, water toner used by many. It was one of the first Asian beauty products I bought, and I quickly worked my way up to the Gel, and more recently, the milk.

I thought I’d post a review now that I’ve tried all three products, and give my thoughts to anyone who might be considering this line!

**Skin Type:** Oily-Dehydrated

**Climate:** Hot, humid, and swampy. (Louisiana, USA)

**Products:** Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner (a liquid toner in a tall bottle), Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Gel (a jelly-like moisturizer in the tub), and Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Milk (an emulsion in a small bottle)

**Images:** The first image is all products in their containers. The following pictures show the consistency of each product as it comes out of the containers and how it looks when you spread it, not how it dries on the floor. Picture 2 is a watery toner in a big bottle, Picture 3 is a moisturizing gel from a tub, Picture 4 is an emulsion (Milk) in a small bottle. *Small disclaimer: My hands are not that red in life, they were the lights. Yes, I wear sunscreen. The shape of my hands is genetic.*

**Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner:**

It honestly took me a while to stick with this product. At first it didn’t seem like much, so I didn’t really have any feelings about it either way. It was just kind of “there.” However, the more I used it, the more I got used to it being part of my routine, and the more I noticed that it was refreshing and refreshing. It really grew on me and became a staple in my routine, too!

It’s always my first step after cleansing, and on days my skin feels stripped or irritated, or a little on the dry side for whatever reason, I’ll put about three layers of this on my skin, and it helps any redness go away very quickly. I don’t like products in spray bottles, personally, so I don’t use this as a spray like some people, and I don’t use it all over my body, either. You can spray it if you want and you can use it all over your body if you want! I just choose not to. Personally, I pour some in one hand over the sink, then dump in my other hand after putting the bottle down, then quickly move my hands over my face to adjust the grip and spread it all over my face, neck, and chest with my hands, adding more if needed. It absorbs quickly, very easily, but if you put it on, your skin will stay moisturized for a long time. Obviously you don’t want to get it in your eyes, but if you do by mistake, it doesn’t hurt. I can put it on the eye area without any irritation or stinging of the eyes.

**Final Verdict:** 10/10 product, and I can see why it’s so popular. It is inexpensive, comes in a large 500 mL bottle, is gentle, comfortable, layerable, and easy to spread, and can be used all over the body with a spray bottle or hand application. It’s a great first step after cleansing, and an easy way to make sure your skin is moisturized and ready to absorb the next products deep into your skin’s layers.

**Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Gel:**

After trying other Korean moisturizers that felt like they were too much for my oily skin, one of which never felt dry or absorbed, even with a very thin layer, I found this product while looking for something better suited to oily skin and high moisture.

It’s like a gel cream, but leans more towards the gel side of things. It’s not like straight Aloe Vera gel in consistency, which is why I’d call it a gel-cream, personally, but it’s not too heavy, it’s soothing, soothing, and it spreads and absorbs very well into my skin. It also doesn’t work in the high humidity where I live, and it doesn’t smell smoky.

I absolutely love this product! I apply this to my face, chest, and neck, and it dries down to a non-sticky, solid finish. Absorbs completely. I can also apply it on the eye area without any irritation or stinging of the eyes.

I also found out, through the video of Tina Tanaka Harris, when she contacted Naturie’s website, that this product is multi-functional as well, and can be used as a face and body moisturizer, a serum, or an intensive night mask, among other uses.

**Final Verdict:** 10/10 product, and I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to try it. It may not be enough on its own for people with dry skin, so be aware of that, but I believe it will add an extra layer of hydration to your routine if that’s what you’re looking for. It stays on well with other products without feeling heavy on the skin. While I would like to try other brands and products in the future, this will be a tried and true product that I can return to if future products disappoint.

**Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Milk:**

This is where things get hairy, so buckle up. I have used this product three times and it is not for me. I ordered it recently and have high hopes for it as I love the toner and gel, but this emulsion is just not for me, I’m sad and disappointed to say.

I bought this emulsion to use in the morning, or use it at night to use a lightweight occlusive when I want a light routine. If it worked well, I would think that maybe in the future I will simplify my routine to these three Naturie Hatomugi products, but alas, the universe said it was not meant to be.

The first time I used this product, I had prepared my skin by cleansing, using the Naturie toner, and the Naturie Gel, leaving my skin moist enough to help (hopefully) absorb the product into my skin a little when I used it. It has a thick, yogurt-like consistency, and I test the patch by swiping one on my cheek near my ear and jawline, patting it on, and waiting overnight. It was a little greasy, but otherwise good.

The next night I put five drops on my hand and started spreading them on my face, including around my eyes, in the orbital socket area. My skin seemed to absorb it, so I patted my face to help it soak in all the way through, and the product seemed to dry well and settle when I was done.

I was awake looking at things on my phone for a while before going to sleep, and my eyes started to water because the product had moved and was causing them to itch. It didn’t seem like an allergic reaction, but I washed them thoroughly because they were uncomfortable.

I watched the Tina Tanaka Harris video I mentioned above, and she has dry skin while I have oily skin, so she put the amount I used all over my face on each cheek and on her forehead, and applied it to the orbital socket area, and apparently it works well for her.

On my third attempt, I used three drops, then rubbed them between my hands before pressing them onto my face, avoiding the orbital socket. There were no stinging eyes that night or the next morning. However, I can apply 5-6 of my usual products and wake up with less oil than I did with one layer of this milk emulsion, so this product is not for me.

**Final Verdict:** 1/10. I would give it a zero, but I’m sure there are even more annoying products out there, so I’ll be conservative and give it a 1. I am very disappointed and will not buy it again. The migration and stinging of my eyes from my second application (the first full face application after the patch test) and the oiliness of my face the next morning was not worth the learning curve for this product. I’m not sure it did much for me, either, but admittedly I didn’t give it a chance, because it wasn’t worth the long test for me. Too much difficulty, and not worth the effort or possible displacement and eye itch. Not really for me.

**TLDR:** Skin Conditioner (watery toner, big bottle) is a great first step after cleansing and I would think it would work well for all skin types. It’s very gentle and non-irritating, and multi-purpose! Skin Conditioning Gel (moisturizer gel, bath) is light, soothing, and great for oily skin and hot and humid climates because it absorbs quickly and easily, but I don’t think it would be enough for dry skin on its own. The Skin Conditioning Milk (emulsion, small bottle) moved to my eyes and irritated them when I used it in the socket / eye area, and left me oilier than my usual 5-6 step method, so it’s a hard pass for me, but if you have dry skin and avoid the orbital socket, you might like it more than I did.
