Who doesn’t love an excuse to break a few rules? Whether that means giving up your bedtime every once in a while in favor of bingeing on your favorite show, texting that person you love first instead of waiting for them, or ditching the idea of an eight-step curling iron, it can feel really good to be a little “bad.”
“Ginny & Georgia” star Antonia Gentry is learning to do just that with a little help from an Aussie. The drugstore brand just launched a new collection — Ultra Wonder, with Daily Mist ($10), Leave-In Treatment ($10), and Gel Créme ($10) — with the goal of breaking all the curl rules you might feel stuck in, in favor of simplicity and doing whatever works best for you.

Ahead, we sat down with Gentry to hear about the one habit she fell into but is looking to get back, the smart way she overcame her social anxiety at big events, and more.
Sugar: Why do you enjoy working with Aussie?
Antonia Gentry: They are a brand I have used for a very long time. Like, I got Aussie hair care when I was in middle school. And I’ve used them in my hair cycle for years. When this opportunity came to me, I was just happy.
For me, my biggest favorite is simplicity. So, I’m very happy that we have a line that addresses all of our needs without breaking the bank, without stress.
PS: Is there a beauty routine you swear by every day, even if you have little time?
AG: Even when I travel, I always take a satin pillow with me. If I can’t have a bonnet or wear my hair up, I’ll make sure I have a satin pillowcase. Before bed, I like to make sure I go in with a moisturizing spray or something, let that settle in, and then go to sleep.
PS: Is there a healthy lifestyle that is negotiable in your schedule?
AG: I used to stretch every day. When I got home from school or work or whatever, I would make sure I got 10 minutes in, just to stay flexible, always on the go. And I stopped for a few years, and I’m dealing with the consequences of that. So I guess I’ll have to start that again.
PS: Which curl rule do you want to break?
AG: For me, having a million products in my bathroom. Like, we don’t need all that. Let’s make it simple. And I think that’s the thing I’m most excited about with Aussie because that’s what it’s all about – having products that fit my routine as I go through my life. It has freed up more space in my bathroom, for sure.
PS: How would you describe your makeup routine if you weren’t working?
AG: Because I wear a lot of makeup at work, when I’m not working, I keep it very light. A simple foundation if necessary, definitely SPF every day. And I’ll do some light concealer where I need it, but I’ll keep it really, really natural. I’m very lazy, so you won’t catch me doing anything crazy by myself. Also, I don’t have the skill set.
PS: Teach me how to prepare for a big event, like a shoot or a premiere.
AG: I’m still thinking about that one. I feel like I have a big team, so I’m very comfortable with the people I work with, especially at events like that. I’m a huge introvert, so it can be very difficult. When it’s time to get ready and do my hair, makeup, and clothes, I always try to treat it like the character of the day. Not too far from who I really am, but it helps me get into the right frame of mind. And it helps make everything a little less scary for sure.
