Is it just me or does anyone else go through the drama and trauma of finding a new brand/shade?

Years ago, when I was very young, I used to buy cosmetics in department stores. It was easy to get the ladies to match your makeup. I’m now 61 and I love my drugstore makeup and it’s so affordable!

I have been wearing the Revlon Illuminance Serum Tint for quite some time now. I don’t remember matching this shade on my face. It’s been that long. Suddenly, it was stopped. Okay, I can live with that. Just find a new shade or company. Easy peasy. Oh, hell no, it wasn’t!

But I have to say, I absolutely love the new AI thing you can do by uploading your photo and matching your shade that way. It’s so cool and haunting! lol I started Tuesday afternoon on my cell phone when I stopped at Walmart to look at products. The first is to use this technology. So here I stand with my phone camera pointed at me and I do a ‘Live" to match. I was in a hurry because I had frozen pizza in my car and I was an hour away from home. I finally agreed and left. But now I knew how it fits into using AI.

So, I get home and realize that I can upload a picture instead! Fun, fun! So, I do it. I start trying to match my skin, then you learn that you need a clean face. Wow, I didn’t wash off yesterday’s makeup. I never do that. So, I shower and leave again. I started with Revlon but for some reason I didn’t continue. I think it was because I was looking at reviews of other brands and it steered me the other way. One of those was Maybelline’s FIT ME foundation, a matte and poreless liquid foundation. It had 40 shades! So, here I am uploading photos and going through shade after shade. I like the split screen front and back. But, how close does it really come to your skin tone? I had my little notebook with me and I wrote down the numbers that I matched, made ideas etc. It’s a really cool way to get shade…if it really works. I went down to 5 shades which were all very close. Then I moved on to Loreal True Match which had great reviews. I did the same, wrote down the numbers, made comments, oh and I forgot to add that I was taking screenshots of the before and after of my face. I didn’t notice until the next day when I was able to download the photos. So, I did it all again. Then I read rave reviews online etc. about elf Soft Glam Satin Foundation. Their visual efforts in the app are absorbing. Dropped my laptop and it stayed. I can hit a little swatch color on their site, and it will take all day to change. Finally I said, "a screw." he threw them aside.

So yesterday I drove down to my local Walmart and pulled out my notepad with the shade numbers. Then I got the FIT ME foundation, and I was up to 5 shades that promised. So, I did it again in the hallway. I took a selfie in the Walmart light, then did a before/after split screen and took out 1, then 2…until I had 1. Then I moved on to Loreal and repeated with True Match. I narrowed it down to a couple…and then a single.

The thing was…THE TWO SHADOWS ARE VERY DIFFERENT! So, I bought both because with Walmart you can return everything.

So, here I sit on Thursday morning, and I haven’t tried any of them yet. I think I’m scared! lol Yesterday, I didn’t even want to mess with them. Spending all that time online, trying to match the shadows, going back and forth will fry your brain. I don’t remember all the stress of finding a new shade/product when I was 20! What about that? I even washed all my brushes yesterday so they are nice and clean.

How do you all choose your shade? Is there a right way? One downside to drugstore makeup is that they don’t have it "the inspectors" such as supermarkets.

To be continued… haha Winners…

    Posted by /u/PromptUnhappy7726
      [comments]

For a day and a half, I was pulling my hair!
