I think if you look at our team, we drafted a lot of offensive linemen, we re-signed a lot of offensive linemen, we added a lot of young defensive linemen to steep contracts. There is a natural change in what we do. I’m not making excuses or anything, but there’s a national shift in that in terms of what you pay your guys, what offense you pay the guys that come up. What is important for us is that there are players that we will not lose. I mean clearly, we will do what is best for us, and we will do whatever it takes to do whatever it takes, within reason, and we want to keep [guys] here because they are really good players, local players who are really good people who are part of our backbone. “With that, you’ve got to be committed. That’s on me to make sure that the sacrifices we’re making are filled with really good players again. I’m proud, since the coach has arrived, of our success in qualifying on day one and two. I think we’ve drafted 15 guys since Nick arrived on day one and two, and 14 of them have been struggling to keep. We’ve got to keep doing it. That means we’ve got to have a good process. We’ve got to understand the people we’re bringing into the building and we’ve got to understand the roles and and the idea we have about them if they play, good things will happen. (Zach Berman)

Panthers RB Rico Dowdle he had a strong midseason stretch, but his carries declined as the year wore on.
