Josh Allen says he let his Buffalo Bills teammates down in Divisional Round loss to Denver Broncos | NFL news

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was left in tears as he blamed Saturday’s Divisional Round loss to the Denver Broncos.
Allen and the Bills endured heartbreak as their season ended with a 33-30 overtime loss, adding to their painful pursuit of the Super Bowl.
Buffalo has now been defeated in the Divisional Round four times and in the AFC Championship Game twice in the past six seasons, including four losses to the Kansas City Chiefs heading into the 2025 campaign.
Allen, who lost two fumbles and threw two interceptions, was picked off by Ja’Quan McMillian late in overtime before Wil Lutz capped Denver with a field goal.
“It’s very difficult,” said a dejected Allen. “I feel like I let my teammates down today.
“Missed chances the whole game. It’s been a long season. I hate the way it ended and that will stay with me for a long time.
“You can’t win with five turnovers. I fumbled twice, I threw two picks. If you shoot yourself in the foot like that, you don’t deserve to win football games.
“Losing like that, even if it is, losing in the playoffs is not fun. If one or two games go our way, it’s a different story.”
Asked what he said to his teammates in the locker room after the game, Allen admitted that he had never spoken. Without telling them you love them.
“I love my teammates,” Allen explained. “I’m very sorry and disappointed in the way this ended.”
With Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid’s Chiefs out of this year’s playoff picture, the Bills are considered to be staring at one of their best chances to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1993 campaign, which marked the last of the franchise’s four Super Bowl losing streaks.
Instead they would face a rejuvenated New England Patriots team, led by Drake Maye, who snapped Buffalo’s streak to win the AFC East for the first time since 2019. Denver had ended Kansas City’s dominance of the AFC West on their way to No. 1 and home field advantage.
Buffalo entered the postseason knowing they would need three road wins to reach the Super Bowl. Only five teams have won three road games before lifting the Lombardi Trophy.
They opened their playoff campaign with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars thanks to Allen’s one-minute touchdown during the Wild Card weekend, but couldn’t beat a Denver Broncos team late in the season.
