AFC Notes: Jim Harbaugh, Patrick Mahomes, Chargers, Chiefs

Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh he said that he is looking to refer the case to another court after leaving the OC Greg Roman.

“A new beginning, a new path,” Harbaugh said, via the team’s official website. “Greg has a football mind, he’s had great success. Also, a new start for him, a new start for our team and our offense. A lot is done well, a lot is done very well. More [offensive] a combination of lines, that was true. It was very difficult, very difficult. The NFL is unforgiving, unfair, tough, that’s the nature of the business. What we feel is the direction that will make us better, we always strive for that. Whether that’s players, coaches, myself included. It’s a results-oriented business.”

“It starts with Justin. The respect, the people who want to work with him who have the same urgency that we have, I think it’s true that they see it the same way,” Harbaugh added to QB Justin Herbert. “Justin is as good, as smart as them. I have no question about his ability as a player. He is not looking to be a GM or a coach. It is our responsibility to put him in the best position.”

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes He talked about how his family and teammates have helped him so far in his recovery.

“It’s definitely bothering your mind a bit,” Mahomes said, via ChiefsWire.com. “But for me, having that goal in mind to try to get better every day and knowing what I’m striving to do is to be ready as soon as possible and have a chance to play in that opening day game, wherever it is so I can be there with my teammates and be in training camp and do what I need to do. That’s pushed me through some of those big mental challenges and having that mental crisis. [who] it manages to keep me involved with the kids, and the kids understand that I can’t really be the dad I usually am, throwing myself on the couch and stuff like that. But I am here and I try to do such things. That was good in my mind, just being around the kids and being around the family and having a lot of famous people around me.”

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes talked about the idea that the team might have a new coordinator next season if OC Matt Nagy he moves on to the position of head coach.

“Obviously there are names, but since there are so many training job vacancies, you have to do all that to see how you build the staff,” Mahomes said, via Pro Football Talk. “I know coach Reid – if ‘Nags’ can find another head coaching job, he will have a good plan on who he wants to bring in. But for me, I just want someone who loves football, cares about football, wants to give everything he can to win, make people accountable, and bring new ideas every day,” continued Mahomes. “That’s something we have to continue to do if you want to continue to be great in this league, that you have to continue to evolve and get better and better and that’s what we’re going to try to do here and I want to get back to that winning culture of holding each other accountable and going out there and playing good football every day, practice or game.”
