The Seahawks showed the 49ers, the entire NFL that they are a runaway freight train

That was extremely satisfying. Mike Macdonald loves his rally cry, whether it’s “12 as one”, “Chasing Edges,” or “EAT”. I got one of the Seattle Seahawks after the San Francisco 49ers were dismantled 41-6 in the Division Round – Destruction of Professionals.

Those two words sum up Macdonald’s vision for the team and perfectly sum up how Seattle has been playing the past two months. ‘The Dark Side” defense absolutely suffocated opposing offenses when the run game got going. I’ve been trying for weeks to find different ways to explain the dominance the Seahawks have displayed, especially on the defensive end. The way Ken Walker runs behind this terrible offensive line, the offense is completely worthy of a Destruction Professional.

Seahawks Drops

  • Ken Walker III is really good…historically good in the playoffs for the Seahawks actually.

The offensive line was giving him good creases and Walker was hitting the hole with explosiveness. He also had some impressive interceptions and broke tackles along the way. Perhaps the best example of how the Seahawks are playing right now is the one in the fourth quarter when he ran into a crowd and was pushed about five feet as the rest of the team entered the game. The Seahawks impose their will on opponents physically. I’ll take his stat line of 19 for 116 yards and 3 TDs any day.

  • Ernest Jones IV is great. He single-handedly caused two turnovers today, stripping the ball from Jake Tonges on the second drive of Seattle’s defense and picking off Brock Purdy later in the game. He is a rowing machine and a leader in the middle of the defense who makes everyone line up. Acquiring Jones in a trade last season is one of the best trades John Schneider has made as GM of the Seahawks.

  • Rashid Shaheed is really good. Speaking of John Schneider’s great trade, the Shaheed trade is the gift that keeps on giving. His first TD return was the game-winner, and it was his third TD return since joining the Seahawks at the trade deadline. Shaheed again made a big run at the end and gave away a pass interference penalty. With Tory Horton injured, adding Shaheed has been a big key to the Seahawks’ success this season.

  • DeMarcus Lawrence is really good. He got to Brock Purdy on his first throw of the game, and almost forced a fumble. Later, he blasted a fourth down play. Later, he stripped Purdy and the ball was found by Nick Emmanwori. Tank came to the Seahawks because he thought they had a chance to win the Super Bowl. He did everything in his power to make that happen.

  • Playoff Cooper Kupp is amazing. His stat line of 5 catches for 60 yards may not be the most impressive, but it all seems to come at important times. Kupp was the reliable safety blanket everyone hoped he would be after signing with his hometown team.

  • Strong points were not captured today, but they all busted their asses. AJ Barner and Eric Saubert both threw key blocks on outside runs that Walker did well against the 49ers. That kind of adventurous play is why those guys are popular.

  • It was good to see Charles Cross and Coby Bryant out there. Bryant finished the game, unlike Cross, but hopefully it was a caution for Charles. Zach Charbonnet was also injured, but the initial prognosis was optimistic. He’s a big part of third-down packages and a touchdown machine, so missing time can hurt the offense.

  • The offensive line blocked well again today as evidenced by the 175 rushing yardsfourth week in a row that Seattle has rushed for 150+ yards. At this point, I don’t think it’s a fluke. There is no better time for the sport of running to come alive than at the most important time of the season!

Seattle will host the NFC Championship game for the first time in over a decade and it feels great! Whether it’s a third matchup with the Rams in Los Angeles or a clash with the No. 1 seed. 2 Chicago Bears, it’s sure to be a wild atmosphere. Until then, enjoy this one folks. This is a special, special group!
